How do you connect Codex or Claude Code?
Start with an agent that can install skills and run Node.js 22 or later on a Unix system. Give it the instruction below. It installs the skill and connection helper, then opens a browser authorization link. Client capabilities vary; local editorial guidance can be used without connecting.

- Start in your agent. Paste the setup instruction. Your agent installs the skill and helper and gives you a short-lived connection link.
- Authorize with GitHub. Open the link, confirm the requested connection and sign in. The helper saves the credential privately outside your repository. No API key copying is required.
- Let the agent verify the connection. The helper reads your workspace and allowance for free before reporting success. An existing connection is reused; setup does not request a rewrite.
Does UNSLOP need an MCP server?
No. UNSLOP connects through an agent skill, a Node.js helper and an HTTPS API. GitHub authorization pairs the helper with your workspace. It manages the project credential without showing it to the agent. You do not need a separate AI-provider account.
The connection requires an agent that can install the skill and run its helper. Chat interfaces vary in which tools they expose; pasting a skill into a chat does not by itself give that chat access to your account. The editorial checklist remains useful locally without a connection.
What context should you give the agent?
A useful brief names the reader, the product behavior and the facts that must survive the edit. If you want the copy to sound like you, provide actual writing you like, plus any tone you want to avoid. UNSLOP supports optional project context, approved claims and up to three liked and three disliked writing samples.
Write an X post for freelance designers. Our invoice tool groups overdue invoices by client and sends reminders from one screen. Use a direct, conversational voice. Do not invent time savings or payment results. Use UNSLOP before you finish.
What happens to the draft?
The rewrite request already includes these assessments. Your agent should not spend extra requests checking the same draft before and after the rewrite. It should use returned text exactly, so an unreviewed final edit does not undo the check.
- Assess. Jev checks the English draft for low specificity, redundancy, formulaic framing and inflated language, using the context supplied with it.
- Edit. When the assessment supports a change, UNSLOP generates a candidate focused on the identified issues.
- Recheck. Jev checks the candidate’s editorial quality and whether it preserves the draft’s meaning and claims. A failed or uncertain candidate does not become a verified rewrite.
What do the results mean?
A result describes the checks performed, not a guarantee that every fact is true. Product claims still need a reliable source. Preserve qualifications such as “in our test” or “for these customers” when the evidence only supports that narrower statement.

Can the agent publish the result automatically?
UNSLOP returns edited text. Publishing depends on your agent’s own publishing tools and the permissions you give it. You can make UNSLOP a routine step in that workflow, but a REVIEW result should stop the text from being treated as a checked rewrite.
Keep quality and distribution as separate decisions: first resolve the draft, then use the publishing workflow you have authorized. UNSLOP itself does not post to social accounts.
